Shot in the spring of 2010 - I had just gotten a Nikon D90 SLR, which shoots 24 fps Progressive video at 720p.
The photo world was pysched about this camera - until Canon blew everyone away with their DSLR Video implementation. The Nikon sensor has a tremendous amount of jello-wobble when you move the camera quickly (having to do with the speed the sensor scans the image).
But for a handheld video, this came out kinda cool. There’s a few shots done with my DVX 100B up on my Kessler Crane, a more traditional “video” camera (which shoots progressive at SD resolution). I paid $2500 for that damn thing - wonder what it’s worth now?
I wrote the backing music and recorded it in ProTools. Strike for drums (’natch, love it!). Guitars were my awesome G&L USA Legacy, my very badass Jay Turser frankenthing (which became awesome when I added a vintage-style big block trem, Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups - sent to me by Mr. Duncan himself - and a P90 in the bridge position). Bass from an 80’s era Fender JP-90. Amp sounds came from various plugins, most likely Line 6 and Waves GTR.
Zounds is an amazing school - my son takes lessons there. My wife went to high school with those cats so I sort of married into a huge jamming family. That’s why you have to shoulder your way through our parties! Check out a Zounds show sometime - those kids truly rock. Visit their site for more info.
